I Want to Know What Love Is is a soft rock power ballad by English-American rock band Foreigner, taken from their 1984 fifth studio album, Agent Provocateur.

Mick Jones wrote the song and then produced it with Alex Sadkin.

It was released by Atlantic Records on November 13, 1984 as the lead single from the album and reached Number 1 in both the US and the UK.

The song which garnered much critical acclaim has remained the band’s biggest hit and best-known song to date.

Besides having been featured in a number of films, it is listed at Number 479 on Rolling Stone Magazine’s 500 Greatest Songs of all Time.
