Mama Africa is an R&B reggae song which is the fourth single from Senegalese-American singer Akon‘s 2006 second studio album, Konvicted.

Reggae singer Peter Tosh originally recorded the song for his 1983 album of the same name, and then it was later remade by R&B quartet The Boys’ Hakim Abdulsamad.

Akon’s version, which he produced, was released as a single in the UK on July 30, 2007, and it eventually reached the number five position on the R&B charts.

In the US, the single peaked at Number 8 on the Billboard Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles.

The official remix of the song features vocals from American rapper 50 Cent.
