The Nigerian born Indie artist known as Weatherman has released his newest single “Come Home.” The song is a romantic ballad that showcases WeatherMan’s very personalized style of lyricism, singing, and delivery. It features a pop club back beat, synth melody lines that sound crisp and cool on the ear, and serves as an excellent introduction to this creative artist currently based in Lagos, Nigeria. The track is as well suited to romantic lounges and mid tempo dance parties as it is for drives around town or casual listening.
WeatherMan names as his main influences acts such as Beenie Man, Elephant Man, and Sean Paul, all of which share attributes that shine through his own particular blend of what he has termed “Afro reggae pop.” Concerning his unique, inimitable style, music fans will hear a pattern and groove that recalls Shaggy, and also Matisyahu, two artists who sing and rap with heavy international texturing. His phrasing is entirely original, and his technique blends verse and chorus in such a way as to make the entire song somehow circular, so that the entire, heavy-hitting experience is contained in each of its component parts. A full-length WeatherMan album will no doubt feature this same excellent characteristic. “Come Home” is produced by Jopee and mixed and mastered by Jaystuntz.
